“Basket of Sun” is made from reclaimed glass and is one piece in a body of work I call the “River” series. I created the River series using reclaimed window glass, pigments and variegated copper foils.
It is named for its heavy texture and unexpected depth, which give the appearance of precious metals beneath a clear flowing river. The warm, tactile nature of the work invites viewers to touch and explore each piece.
Of special interest, a piece similar to “Basket of Sun” was juried by Heller Gallery of New York into the Red Hot Party and Summer Auction for the Museum of Glass in Tacoma, Washington. Mira’s work will be auctioned, along with donations by some of biggest names in glass in the United States, and internationally, to benefit the Museum.
